Biography
Richard founded Healthcare Design Builders in 1998 and continues to operate the company in partnership with his wife MaryBeth. The company designs and builds imaging equipment suites (MRI, Cath labs, CT, NM), operating rooms, and research laboratories in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. More than 450 construction projects have been successfully completed. Graduated Middlebury College, VT, 1976.
Richard first visited Branch lake as an infant during the hurricane of September 1954.
During his childhood, he spent summers at his grandfather’s camp “The Boulders.” As an adult, he spent many two-week vacations with his wife, children and extended family at “Peters Point.” He built his camp between Howard’s and Moore’s Brooks in the South Lake in 2012. He and MaryBeth now spend 4-5 months each year on the lake.
Both MaryBeth and his sister, Susannah Hammersley, contribute to the loon count and the invasive plant patrol.
